Nottinghamshire-based professional trainer, manager and promoter Scott Calow began boxing at the age of 10 when he joined Huthwaite ABC.
After 35 amateur fights, one of which saw him win a Midlands Schoolboy title, he qualified as a Level 1 Coach when he was 17, taking over the training and matchmaking at the club and qualifying as a Level 2 Coach just two years later.
Scott’s amateur coaching achievements included
- Three National champions
- Six Midlands champions
- One European medallist
- Four Nations medallists
A pro boxer himself for a time, at the age of 21 he decided his future lay in coaching and, when two of the boxers he was working with turned professional, applied for his professional trainer’s licence.
A professional manager’s license followed in 2006, since when he has become one of the most active managers in the country with an exciting stable of boxers.
More recently, Scott has moved into promoting and, as a British Board of Boxing Control registered promoter, now collaborates with others in the same field bringing together events across the country to showcase the boxers he manages.
As part of his aim to bring fight fans the best in British boxing, he currently works closely with gyms in Nottingham, Newark and Sheffield. As manager of Jeriel D’Angelo Martins and Andrus Da Silva, he has recently added Amir Khan Academy to this list, working with head coach George Klimek there, and is looking to extend this by offering coaching, management and promotions further afield – for more details, check out how you can Join The SCB Stable.
