Derbyshire pro boxer Kyle Hughes and his opponent Paul Ryan stepped onto the scales at 1pm today, ahead of tomorrow’s match up on the MTK Global show at the Macron Stadium in Bolton.
The show, which also features both an English and a European title fight, will be held behind closed doors but will be streamed live on ESPN and on IFL from 6.30pm on Saturday 17 April.
Hughes and Ryan both made weight, tipping the scales at 159lbs and and 157lbs respectively.

“Going up against a 5-times Irish champion and European gold medalist, Kyle is definitely the underdog in this one but he has nothing to lose and everything to gain,” said manager/trainer Scott Calow.
“He had already decided he wanted to test himself against the best boxers out there so would have been more than ready to take a fight like this – and not just because we are short on options because of Covid-19.
“This is the first time any of my boxers has been able to walk out into the ring during the pandemic and it’s great to see Kyle leading the way back into the ring for other fighters from the Boxing Connected stable.
“Plans are already under way for more of them to follow in his footsteps, with details of these to be announced in the next few weeks and, if all goes to plan, we’ll be back to promoting our own shows in the summer.”
